What's so great about reNEWal?

Hi Friends,

So I've been meaning to start a blog since I graduated from college. Over a year and a half later, here I am. I guess you could call me a procrastinator. Allow me to tell you the simple story that kick-started my engine into gear to finally begin writing a blog. (Does that last sentence sound right to you mechanically-minded readers?) Regardless, it makes sense to me. ;)
My hubby and I went to a festive light display in Gaiser Conservatory in Manito Park last night with one of his Air Force buds. Side note: this large gorgeous park is only a mile from our little rental house. Score. Air Force Bud suggested that we join him this morning at Vintage, a small church downtown that meets in a Girl Scouts building. My hubby had been there a couple of times and really enjoyed it, but we've been attending a large church together because of the convenient 9am service. (It's so nice to still have a lot of day left after the service!) Anyway, we were up for a change, so Vintage it was. Right choice? Oh yes.
Vintage is wrapping up a series on Exodus. The focus of the talk today was renewal. Hello, blog title. Let's just say that it really hit home today, and I knew God was working in my heart this morning. I've been a Christian for the majority of my life. I've grown up in a Christian family going to church every Sunday and learning about Jesus, and I have a personal relationship with my Savior. My identity and purpose are in Him. But, I've been in need of some renewal. The pastor said, "renewal is when God speaks to your soul of His steadfast love and faithfulness." So true. As a Christian, I've gone through some peaks and some valleys, but in all those times God has been so faithful and his love has never failed. More noteworthy truths about renewal: it is the marriage of knowledge and experience; it's when you see old truths with fresh power; it results in humility, joy, worship, conviction and confession of sin, and taking God at His word.
As I live this new phase of life as a wife in a completely new place with new people, I'm choosing to live renewed by God's grace. I'm choosing to remember His steadfast love and faithfulness.
What new things are happening in your life? How have you experienced renewal lately?
